Teebs exists on a whole ‘nother level. The Los Angeles-based artist/producer has been blessing earholes with lush, atmospheric beats for a minute, resulting in the fine-tuned bliss of E s t a r a, his 3rd full length for FlyLo’s Brainfeeder imprint. In my opinion, this is his boldest, most cohesive effort to date – drawing together all the elements that make his sound to a sharp, focused point. Imagine the space created by Eno or Laraaji paired with loose L.A. beat mechanics and classic Warp or Ninja Tune vibes and you might be on the right track to what Teebs is getting at. Check “The Endless,” “SOTM,” “Piano Days,” and “NY Pt.2” with Prefuse 73 for a taste. Beautiful stuff, worth repeat listens for sure. Recommended.
