To be honest, I didn’t know about the hype surrounding Cashmere Cat until we got this record in. When a slightly subdued original production gets nearly 2 million listens on Soundcloud (“Mirror Mau”), you must be up to something? Or what about if Ed Banger picks up the same single just to remix it? This is the first official vinyl release for Cashmere Cat and he’s picked Lab favorite label LuckyMe to be his vehicle. If I had to describe the sound, I would say he incorporates p.d.s., trappish beats with the sheen of ‘Mercian R&B production and a pocketful of whimsical fantasy. You want to hear Kells over sme of these tracks, probably would be a good move on the Piper’s part. 4 tracks.
